The name “Ashborn” tells the story of a business that rose from the ashes of fire – reborn as a bigger and stronger entity with a renewed identity.
The “Ash” part of the name also pays respect to the founding Ashton family and the rich heritage that is the foundation of the business.
The seedling in the logo is the Banksia Media – a native plant that germinates after fire.

An important part of working for a company is recognising the history that has gone into making it what it is today as it is easy to forget the number of people that have been involved and what they may have gone through.
Upper Murray Case Supplies (as we were previous known) was founded in the early ‘sixties’ by Brian Ashton who started making wooden boxes in Winkie SA out of a necessity to pack and transport fruit from his farm. The Ashton family provided boxes and bins to local growers and through plain hard work, the business grew and in October 1998 Mick Ashton purchased the business from his father.
In June 2000, Upper Murray Case Supplies was relocated to Glossop out of a need to store materials at a site with a hard stand topsoil to meet new Export requirements (IPSM-15). The 2000’s saw Upper Murray Case Supplies extended its reach by opening factories in Adelaide and Mount Gambier as well as securing joint ventures in Mildura (Victoria) and Griffith (New South Wales).
In January 2012, a fire in Glossop destroyed much of the factory, but instead of dwelling on their losses, the Ashton family chose to create a stronger and more efficient business. 18 months later in 2013, our new factory was opened.
In 2016, our organisation conducted a rebranding process to consolidate our portfolio of businesses under a single globally recognised banner: Ashborn Industries.
Ashborn Industries and its associated companies are leading suppliers of timber products in Australia. We strive to consistently provide excellent service supplying buyers with products that fully satisfies their requirements for quality, safe timber products, compliant with regulatory standards.

Timeless
We do not use chemicals on our pallets.
All the timber that we source is heat treated to kill any disease or insects that may be residing in the wood. Heat treatment effectively cures the wood and renders it safe for shipping. No chemicals are necessary or ever used at.
Some people think that plastic pallets are better for the environment – In actual fact, this is incorrect !
WHY WOODEN PALLETS ARE THE RIGHT ENVIRONMENTAL CHOICE!
Most wooden pallets are made from “waste” lumber, which may not look good enough for furniture grade wood, but is just as strong.
No trees are cut simply to make wooden pallets, so pallets don’t reduce our natural foliage.
Fortunately, in this country, we have plantation forests and strict policies on what trees can and cannot be used for industry.
Did you know that trees absorb and store carbon from the atmosphere?
The tree retains the stored carbon in the wood, so it is effectively still working for the environment once it has been converted into timber packaging.
The wooden pallet is a clear winner over the plastic pallet when comparing the energy resources required during the manufacturing process.
Additionally, the re-use and recycle ability of a wooden pallet is by far the greatest advantage.
You’ll find that many pallet manufacturers will offer services to repair broken pallets, extending their life cycle.
When they’re beyond repair, they are chipped and turned into other products – like chipboard or garden mulch.
Sometimes you’ll see them salvaged and used for alternative purposes.
And the end result for a pallet is that it ends up back into the earth, into nature where it started from and where it belongs.
BEING A RENEWABLE RESOURCE – WOODEN PALLETS ARE THE NATURAL CHOICE
As our business has grown and expanded, we have integrated other businesses with their own names and identities. This included:
Upper Murray Case Supplies
South East Bins & Pallets
J & H Pallets
Bob’s Barn
In 2016 we realised that our folio of brands was becoming unmanageable and was a source of confusion for our customers. Especially when communicating with multiple branches at once.
To resolve this situation, we decided that our organisation should go through a process of consolidating our portfolio of businesses under a single, globally recognised banner.
Under the direction ofLowenPartidge ofPeartree Marketing, we embarked on a process of self-awareness to reconsider who we are – involving all of our staff and even some of our customers.
At the end of an extensive and thorough process, we settled on the name “Ashborn Industries”.

The “Ash” part of the name also pays respect to the Ashton family and the rich heritage that is the foundation of the business.
